I'm working on discovering Berlin bit by bit and I'd like you, my loyal blog readers, to come along for the ride with me. Hence, I plan on bringing my camera on my little strolls (I most often have it with me anyway) and photographing noteworthy, funny, pretty things along the way to share. Today, I set out along the canal near our house and headed west.
Pretty much any kind of food imaginable is available in Berlin. Mostly, I thought this sign (on Kottbusser Damm near our apartment) was funny because the official name of the restaurant is Vietnam Food. Good naming, guys. Very effective.
This sign marks the spot where the awesome market happens in our neighborhood on Tuesdays and Friday. I like that they put a camel on there to demonstrate that they... sell camels at the market?
There were tons of people outside today since it was sunny and warm. The trees are starting to turn, so the canal was especially pretty.
There are chestnuts falling all over the place. When they fall off of the tree, they are inside these shells, which my teammate Jon refers to as "spike balls."
Here's some more of the thousands of people who were out enjoying the water today.
I couldn't figure out if this was supposed to be art or if someone just felt like stringing a bunch of stuff up in this tree.
