This weekend was the annual offshore boat races in St. Clair, which I have come to learn is pretty much a national holiday to the people here. Normally, I try to avoid being at home on boat race weekend, because it's incredibly noisy and crazy, but here I was this weekend. In general, I'm just not as fascinated by boats that sound like jets taking off as everyone else around here, but I have to admit that I was a big fan of the Miss Geico, a neon lime green thing that speeds by at 200 mph. No kidding. Naturally, I had to document the occasion with photos as well:
This news helicopter was chasing the Miss Geico, but seemed to be having trouble keeping up.
These two--the Reliable and J.D. by Rider--were the real competition after Miss Geico.
This picture incorporates three of my dad's favorite things: freightors (even better that they're crossing!), speed boats and ducks
A visual for anyone who has ever wondered just what I mean when I say I'm jumping off my neighbor's boathouse. Also, my fave picture of the day.
Audrey, the adorable daughter of my dad's work buddy, Stephan. I got to speak German with her!
