The Sunday Pow & Wow--
Pow: Usually everything Berlinprojekt is a Wow for me (I love love love my church, after all), but today, I've got a tiny Berlinprojekt Pow. Nothing directly to do with the church, though. We started an evening service a few weeks ago and meet in a new cafe that's still being built/decorated/arranged. The fact that it's brand new is cool, since it means that every week we show up and find something new, but it is also presents something of a problem. Namely, that we store our stuff in the cellar in a room shared by the cafe, and they (or someone) keeps walking off with our stuff. Last week, it was some of our coffee stuff, the week before two of our lights disappeared, this week a whole stack of chairs were gone. I actually didn't even notice that the chairs were missing until we were putting everything away. I walked passed one of their offices and saw eight of our chairs sitting around a table. Trouble trouble.
Wow: To balance out the Pow, I'll go with a Berlinprojekt Wow today, too. Despite our stuff disappearing, everything with the evening service is going very well. I'm on the set-up/clean-up team, which means I'm usually one of the first people there and last to leave. Far from being stressful, though, I find it a cool opportunity to get to know people in the church. Since it's so new, the evening service is small anyway--40-50 people so far, of which I probably know half--which makes it easier to notice who is new and meet people. Most weeks, people go out to a restaurant or bar to hang out, too, and it's easy to tag along and make friends. Happy times. =)
The sermon was great today, too. They're starting a new series about Money called "Who rules my world?" Konstantin preached today on the passage out of 1 Chronicles where David dedicates the donations that people have given for the building of the temple to the Lord. It's crazy that David, who could have easily taken advantage of his celebrity status and wealth for his own benefit, was so humble with what he had. He really got it that everything belongs to God and that he was really just a steward of it. I think this series is going to be exactly what I need going into a another summer of support raising.
